Abstract

The article describes the main source of hydrodynamic noise (HDN) in shut-off and control valves and the mechanism of the occurrence of acoustic energy. The main geometric parameters of the throttle section with a cylindrical shape are considered: the shape of the channels of the throttle section, the diameter of the orifices of the channels and the distance between the channels. The stages of choosing these geometric parameters are described. Changes in these parameters significantly affects the HDN in control valves. The article presents the experimentally obtained dependences of the change in the HDN level on the relative change in the diameter of the channels of the throttle section and on the change in the relative distance between the channels in 1/3 octave frequency bands.
